The weather forecasters had predicted an “horrendous” day for Rabbit Captains Day at Crow Nest Golf Club.

However, the day itself although wet, turned out to be better than anticipated with on and off drizzle and light rain throughout the day.

Despite the damp conditions, around 110 members turned out. The Ladies and Junior competitions had been played on the previous Sunday, but both days play produced a series of new club winners.

The main event was the Club Major, the Rabbit Captains Day Cup, and this was won by long term popular member, and former Rabbit Captain, Alan Stafford with an excellent score of 41 stableford points.

The other winners, who were new to the winners circle, were Jackie Turner and Jacob Roche who won the respective Ladies and Juniors competition.

The Tigers competition was won by former Junior Captain James Burke who scored a remarkable 44 points on the day.

The evening presentation party was well attended with over 130 members and guests present.

Rabbit Captain Gary Speight thanked those who had helped him organise his big day, with particular thanks being extended to Vice Captain Mick Tiffany who had worked tirelessly helping to set up the days events.

The evening entertainment was provided by Rachel Ward.
