HARTSHEAD Moor were not able to build on their triumph from the previous week against Idle as they slipped to defeat by 41 runs against Spen Victoria.
Man of the Match for Spen, Adal Islam, did the damage scoring 78 runs and then grabbing 3-38 when he stepped up to bowl.
Hartshead captain Will Smith was the top scorer with 29 before he was bowled and Sean Raven wasn’t far behind with 26 before he was then caught.
Andrew Parratt took 2-30 from his 15 overs, while Smith ended up with 3-58 from 10 overs – six of which were maidens.
Hartshead’s 2ndXI also failed to topple Spen Victoria as they were skittled out for 140 after 44.4 overs, eventually losing the game by four wickets.
Nicholas Ward was caught for 36 and Martin Ellis was bowled for 34.
But it was Daniel Simpson who was the most influential individual on the day as he help rip out the heart of the Hartshead batting with a consistent 15-over spell of bowling that included four maidens and eventually rewarded him with impressive figures of 4-35.
Jeffrey Wind did what he could with 2-32 off 12 overs for the home side, but it was the visitors No 3, Thomas Loker, who got Spen rolling, scoring 49 on their way to a deserved victory.
