Lucky 13 as Brighouse youngsters secure medals

Thirteen members of Brighouse Swimming Club competed in The Bradford Grassroots Meet, held at Shipley Pool.

The Brighouse swimmers made their presence known in the water, storming their way through their heats and taking their places on the medals board.

In total they took away nine speeding tickets, four gold medals, five silver medals, five bronze medals and 12 other places along with numerous personal best times.

Brody Clark (9), competing in his first external competition, took home the gold medal in the boys’ 50m Freestyle and a speeding ticket in the boys’ 50m Breaststroke. Edward Vickers (10) left the medals for the other swimmers and took home three speeding tickets for his three events.

Five swimmers also took part in the Kirklees and District Gala 3 at Spenborough.

Again, the Brighouse swimmers gave a great performance in the 33.3m pool. Cameron Price took home a fourth place finalists ribbon in the boys 12 years 2 lengths Breaststroke and nine-year-old Luke Smith won the bronze medal in the Boys 9 years two lengths Backstroke and secured a place in the 9&10 year olds final, coming sixth.

Ellis Kaye (9) scooped the gold medal in the Girls 9 years two lengths Backstroke also securing a place in the 9&10 year olds final where she missed out on the bronze by point two of a second.
