Lightcliffe Golf Club are holding a Taster Session for women and girls on Saturday, April 9, at 3pm.

Club spokesman Andrew Holmes says the club is looking to increase their membership among women.

The club is offering professional tuition in their Academy for beginners and reduced membership for the first year.

“We already have a vibrant ladies golf and social section and want to see this increasing, and we do offer good practice facilities,” he said.

They have produced a poster offering a free trlal with their equipment to see if it is a game for you and before you spend money on your own set of golf clubs.

The April 9 session contains a free professional lesson and to book a place please ring David McKidd on 01422 204081 and to know more please email pro@lightcliffegolfclub.co.uk

Meanwhile, Ashley Durman, Lightcliffe’s new lady captain, started her year with a morning competition.

Recently returned from Africa, she and 34 ladies had a mud and mat free Texas Scramble, followed by lunch.

The winners of the friendly competition were Vice Captain Jane Schofield, Susan Holdsworth and Carol Walker.
