Lightcliffe honour their high achievers

LIGHTCLIFFE CC held their annual dinner and prize presentation evening last Friday at Lightcliffe Golf club.

Chairman Steve Hartley presided in the presence of club president John Brooke and Mr Neil Shackleton, managing director of John Adams Coach Supplies, the club’s 2012 season sponsor, who is also the vice chairman of Blue Square Conference Premier club Guiseley FC.

Long serving former player and committeeman Duncan Powe was the ever efficient MC.

At the end of his speech chairman Hartley asked his president to say a few words about his predecessor Neil Denham who had passed away earlier in the week.

The 1st XI prize winners were: Batting: Chris Taylor; Bowling: Suleman Khan and Fielding: Chris Taylor.

2nd XI winners: Batting: Matthew Taylor; Bowling: Richard Tesseyman; Fielding: Liam Collins. 3rd XI winners: Batting: Kevin Booth; Bowling: Aidan Edwards; Fielding: Kevin Booth. Women’s XI winners: Batting: Charlotte Oates; Bowling: Ophe Donlan; Fielding: Sue Godden.

The George Bottomley Chairman’s Cup went to the Godden family, Alan, Sue, James and son, for their magnificent efforts at Wakefield Road with the new scoreboard, the pavilion and many other tasks on and off the field.

Captain Jonathan Wilson rceived The Robert Firth Memorial Trophy from his teammate Alexander Stead who is the grandson of the late Mr Firth.

The evening concluded with a disco.
