Grand time had by all to celebrate the season

A fabulous night was had by all 130 members and guests that attended Crow Nest Park Golf Club’s Presentation evening and celebrated the golfing year with fine food and entertainment.

Club Captain Mike Greenberry, along with the section captains, presented the honours and trophies to all the winners on the night.

Special thanks went to all members who had supported competitions this season to make it such a successful golfing calendar with many events attracting record entries.

The evening started with a red-carpet reception, swung straight into the party atmosphere with the meal, entertainment and congratulations to all winners followed by members dancing the night away.

Club Person of the Year went to a well-deserved winner, Andy Sheldon, for his relentless work throughout the year. Golfer of the Year went to Dean Wilson, who produced some outstanding play throughout 2015.

Crow Nest Park Golf Club turned out in force – namely the Royal Air Force, Navy and Army – in support of Remembrance Sunday. Mr Captain, Mike Greenberry and Lady Captain, Diane Higgins introduced the order of the day.

The Last Post was played by David Longbottom, followed by a poetry reading by John Farrar and a reading by Julie Langfield as the Crow Nest Park golfers gathered to pay their respects and hold the two minutes silence before setting out to play golf and raise funds for the Royal British Legion.

In all, 45 players set off in 15 teams of three representing the Army, Navy and RAF in a nine-hole Stableford competition.

The rain did show it’s face a little but managed to hold off until the competition was over. The winning team once again this year was the the Royal Navy under the captaincy of Elaine Mackie. A massive £450 was raised by raffles, entry fees, cake baking and an auction and great support in the Crow Nest Park clubhouse before and after the competition.
