Ona wonderful early autumn day last Sunday a field of 34 members played out some close games of bowls to decide who was to be the 2013 Rastrick Bowling and Social Club club champion.
Frankie Cullen was the eventual richly-deserved winner beating Alan Broadbent 21-5 in the final. He now takes his place in the club’s Hall of Fame, after winning the competition for the third time in the last four years.
Club members from Rastrick Bowling and Social Club visited St John’s C.E. Primary Academy, Clifton to give the pupils a taster in bowls.
They learned Crown Green’s, grip, delivery and bias. All the children enjoyed themselves and were each issued with a certificate.
The club is prepared to do similar sessions with other schools who should contact the club direct.
Bailiff Bridge Bowling Club are seeking more members (old and young, novice and experienced) for the 2014 season starting next April.
At present the club has 11 league teams as well as social bowls.
