Rastrick CC’s first X1 maintained their Drakes Huddersfield League Cedar Court Conference promotion push with a convincing win over struggling Upperthong.

The visitors won the toss and batted, and Rastrick struggled to make inroads early on in the innings.

But once they removed Briggs for 63 and Earnsahw for 39, Jordan Ghani managed to get the home side back into a dominant position by taking 4-59 as the visitors eventually posted 204 all out.

There was some rain at the interval which meant the game was reduced and Rastrick where chasing a revised total of 182, which they did with ease.

There was a third centurion of the season in the Rastrick ranks as Australian overseas player Mitchell McCoach notched his first for the club with 101.

He was well supported by Jacob Waterson, who ended up on 57 not out, to more than help his average, and see his side home by nine wickets with just 27 overs having been bowled.
