Brighouse Swimming Club members had an early morning start for their journey to the East Coast for The Kingfishers B and C grade Meet at Scarborough Pool last Saturday

Eight Brighouse swimmers competed in 29 events and between them came away with 14 medals and four speeding tickets.

In the 9 Years age group, Ellis Kaye took silver in the girls 50m Butterfly and a fifth place medal in the 50m Breaststroke.

Luke Smith won the bronze in the boys 50m Breaststroke and a fifth place medal in the 50m Freestyle.

Ciaran Raistrick stormed down the pool to receive a speeding ticket in the Boys 50m Freestyle.

In the 10 Years age group, Edward Vickers took home two speeding tickets in the boys 100m Individual Medley and the boys 50m Breaststroke.

He then won gold in the 50m Backstroke and settled on a bronze for the 50m Freestyle.

In the 11 Years age group, Cameron Price won a speeding ticket in the boys 100m Individual Medley.

He also claimed another ticket in the boys 50m Freestyle and went on to secure a bronze medal in the 50m Breaststroke.

He went even better, swimming a fantastic 50m Butterfly for the first time and won the gold medal.

In the 12 Years age group Ciara Duffin swam a wonderful 50m Butterfly and was awarded the gold medal. She also took gold medal in the girls 50m Freestyle.

Declan Raistrick, who only turned 12 the day before the meet, won gold in the boys 50m Backstroke and silver in the boys 100m Individual Medley.

Finally, in the 13 years age group, Lucy Smith took home two bronze medals in the 50m Backstroke and the 50m Freestyle.

Coach Brian Smart said: “We couldn’t have asked anymore of our swimmers today.

“They all did really well and are always a pleasure to take to external galas.”
