We’re ready for leaders, says Quinn

IT is business as usual hopefully this week for Brighouse Town as they prepare to enterain top of the table Retford United in the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division (3pm).

Manager Paul Quinn said that training will be no different and they will be preparing for the tie in the same way.

“We will treat them the same as we do any club. We can’t approach them any differently.

“We will have the same mindset and there will be no change of style,” said Quinn, who was at the Nostell Miners Welfare v Armthorpe Welfare game on Tuesday watching Nostell in preparation for the away fixture on February 25.

Following their excellent 2-0 win away at Emley last Tuesday, the players were looking forward to getting stuck into Scarborough Athletic, who play at Bridlington.

However, the fixture fell foul of the weather and so they were given the weekend off.

“To be honest it was probably a good thing, as some of the players were carrying a few knocks after the cup tie and so it has gifted them the opportunity to get right,” said Quinn.

“Also it means that Sam Akeroyd will now be eligible to play giving us a few more options and with Luke Gibson now right it means we will be at full strength.

“We have got enough in us to beat most sides and we can match anyone in the league on our day.”

On the next stage of the League Cup, Quinn said: “We are still waiting to hear who we have in the next round, as there are a few outstanding ties to be played in the third round.”

Brighouse Town are currently in sixth place in the Baris NCEL Premier Division tables with an average gate in the semi-professional Step 5 league of 113.

Their gates are 9.17 per cent up on last season and their top attendancer so far has been 210 for the January 2 game with Thackley.

Scarborough Atheltic are top with 455 despite playing their homes games along the coast at Bridlington until the countil find them a new home.
