Pontefract Collieries v Brighouse Town: Selection posers for Town bosses

BRIGHOUSE Town's management duo of Mark Brier and Darren Attwood have selection headaches as they head to Pontefract Collieries on Saturday (3.00).

"When someone with the footballing credentials of Danny Toronczak says to us that he doesn't expect to figure after the way the team played against Barton, then that shows a commendable attitude," said Brier.

"It shows we have no `Big Time Charlies', they all want to fight for a place.

"We do expect the suspensions to come through this week for Darryl Leach and Lee Malcher but even if they do we can still play them at Pontefract.

"There is a doubt over keeper Lee Williams (back) but he will be having physio and we will know more on Thursday night.

"Pontefract Collieries will have to be treated with total respect as they are a formidable outfit on their own ground in the shadows of the Prince of Wales Colliery. We didn't get a result there last season in the league but we did in the league cup.

"It is an intimidating place to go in the heart of the old Yorkshire mining community, with the atmosphere, and they are very much in your face. However, we will remind the lads that we want them to be totally disciplined and play their normal game and then we should get the rewards."

Brier said both he had reserve team manager Rick Addy would be looking very closely at players who were eligible for the Halifax Cup tie at Warley Town as there was an agreement with the League that Town would just not flood their side with players who had been playing and benching in the NCEL League.
