Old Brodleians second XV v Hull Ionians: Break gives fringe chance to shine

OLD Brodleians's first XV squad has a break this weekend, Saturday being the Yorkshire Cup reserved date and they departed that competition at the hands of Cleckheaton in August.

The management team decided against a game and instead will allow players to rest, injuries to clear whilst giving a few players short of games a run in the second XV game at home to Hull Ionians, 2.15pm

Last week's result at Gateshead was a setback and sees Brods drop to 10th place in North One East.

The result will certainly refocus minds and remind the players that they have to be at the top of their games each weeks to take the points.

The three match winning run was massively important and has left them in a reasonable position, one that the coaches would have accepted in August.

The focus on Saturday will be on giving squad members the chance to push for 1st XV places in front of coaches Ian Armitage and Jon Cole.
