Mike puts his shirt on another Masterful season of rugby
MIKE Gianotti of Pure Travel, Halifax, the proud sponsor of the UK-based New Zealand Kiwis Masters Team 2009/2010 season, was presented with his framed replica shirt and team photograph last week.
There to do the honours were Brighouse-based team manager Rab Hussain, team captain Arnie Hema and player-coach Martin Moana.
Rab said: "We would like to say a big thank you to Mike for all his support right from the start and long it may continue.
"We would also like to say thank you to our other sponsors this year who are the late Terry Fawthrop from Bridges Gym, Ken Balmforth of the Black Swan in Brighouse, Andy Smith of Calder Screenprint, Rob Knight of Knight's Graphics, Shaz Hussain of Global Fireworks Direct and finally Zahid (Zid) Hussain from Brighouse Mini Coaches for all our Travel Transport."
Upcoming games confirmed for the NZ Masters team are May 22 against the West Indies Masters at Rochdale, August 1 against a Bradford Bulls Legends team to be played as an Odsal (Grattan Stadium) curtain raiser for the Super League fixture Bulls v Catalan Dragons game.
Rab added: "We are currently in talks with other Super League clubs and RFL Representatives regarding more Masters fixtures for the 2010 season.
"We would like to say a big thank you to the people who showed their support last year and we hope that it continues this year."
Among those taking part in the Sports Relief Mile this weekend will be Lightcliffe Juniors' official John Ramsden and his son Ben.
They will do their bit in Leeds on Sunday, starting at 10.30am, and deserve to raise a huge sum for this worthy cause.

THE Casa del Lago at Brookfoot will be featured on Sky's Living TV which commences a new season on Monday, March 22 of their Four Brides programme.
No, this should not be in Good Times column as one of the programmes will show the wedding reception of Wakefield Wildcats' former prop forward Richard Moore. His Dewsbury bride Louise chose the Casa and the film crew moved in for their November celebration.
The programme makers were said to be delighted with the whole day and build up to it with also having a professional sportsman involved.
THERE might have only been 79 paying customers at Brighouse Town's home game with Staveley MW last Saturday plus another 20 or so officials in the Hove Edge ground, but I can tell you the wind must have been in the right direction as my good friend Paul Nuttall on his way back off Bradford Road to his home in Fairless Avenue, Lightcliffe, after watching Brighouse Rangers' landslide victory over Wortley, could hear the cheers and then the announcements for the goals.
Town's vice chairman Ray McLauglin says they can regular hear the PA announcements all over Crow Nest Golf course and gather what is going on during the 90 minutes.
"At least they know we are here and making a presence and won't it be nice when they can hear us in the centre of Brighosue when eventually our gates multiply to some tune," added Ray.
FINALLY, spring has arrived as the green shoots have certainly come through with our local sports coverage this week. Cricket and crown green bowls included along with cycling on top of what appears to be renewed enthusiasm by contributors who didn't shiver on the touchlines for once last weekend in the sunshine.
