Matty finishes job for classy Town

Brighouse Town 3 Leeds Carnegie 1 Koolsport Northern Counties East Division One CHARLOTTE HENBEST reports

TOWN stretched their unbeaten run to five matches thanks to an emphatic second half performance over top of the table Leeds Carnegie at the Dual Seal Stadium on Tuesday evening.

A bitterly cold evening was warmed up by some exciting attacking play from Town, following an obviously inspirational half time talk from Mark Briers and Darren Attwood.

A very happy Brier said afterwards: "They got a little bit of a chat from us at half time. We started really well and could have been at least 3-0 up before they scored.

"After that they seemed to lose shape, they stopped communicating and it went very quiet out there. I must praise them for their second half response, I am delighted. We have a bunch of lads that really want to win.

"They (Leeds) had some good players out there with some good movement off the ball so we had to change things tactically in the second half and stop play through the middle.

"We have a good squad, we lost some players for tonight and brought some more in and we managed to find the right system to beat them.

"Craig Smith worked his backside off tonight, but it's hard to single anyone out as it was a good all round team performance. Darren and I worked it well at half time. We sometimes do good cop bad cop and it seems to get their attention."
