Elland fall victim to Sharks

Elland's poor run in the National Conference League continued with a 30-10 defeat at home to Shaw Cross Sharks today.

The visitors took the lead after 10 minutes with a converted try from their winger and doubled their advantage six minutes later after a try under the posts from their scrum half.

On 38 minutes Elland’s captain Tom Harnett burst through to touch down but the conversion was wide.

After penalties galore for both sides, Shaw Cross gained their third converted try to lead 18-4 at the break.

It was game over when the visitors scored on 43 minutes and then added two interception tries.

Harnett burst through to score a converted try and complete the scoring.

Fullback Karl Frankland was best for Elland, who have no Division One game next weekend.

Siddal made it five wins out of five in the Premier Division, but still trail Leigh Miners Rangers on points difference, after an 18-6 win at Egremont Rangers.

Four of their wins have been away but they are home to third-from-bottom Hull Dockers next on May 7.
