Town completed the season unbeaten and can now look forward to next season where they will meet old rivals Hull City as well as Leeds.

A fantastic achievement from Rob Mitchell’s side who capped off a fine season with a 2-2 draw at home against Whitley Bay.

The fourth-placed side gave everything to try and deny Town the title but, in the end, goals from Rachael White and Jodie Redgrave ensured that the crown was heading to the Calderdale outfit.

In what has proved a long and gruelling season – one which saw Town pushed all the way by Barnsley – Brighouse managed to go one better than their second-placed finish from the previous season and ensure they secured a second promotion in just three seasons.

Manager Mitchell said: “We are absolutely delighted to have clinched the title.

“But to go unbeaten is a remarkable feat and credit must go to the players.

“It was a physically and mentally draining season but we’ve had more highs than lows.

“We can finally start planning for next season in the WPL.”

The game followed on from the junior tournament hosted by the Ladies in the morning which saw teams from Battyeford, Woodkirk and Bingley compete in a mini round robin.

Town’s very own Under-7 side played in the event and did extremely well in their two games with some quality football on show.

Mitchell added: “It was great for the girls to be able to have the support of the Ladies, and we were really impressed by the standard of football on display.

“The girls really enjoyed the day which was capped off with them watching the Ladies warm up before leading the sides out as mascots and staying for the game itself. We will certainly be running the event again!”

A bumper 197 crowd watched the game which is massive support for the Town Ladies and can only get better on the next step up the ladder.
