AN EXCELLENT day of football and netball matches were played despite the torrential downpours.

Forty teams from 12 local primary schools, with over 300 school children from years three to six took part in St Joseph’s 13th annual soccer and netball festival.

Held at Brighouse High School the teams provided an entertaining competition.

One of the organiser’s Heather Whittingham said: “What a day. The weather forecast had been terrible so everyone was geared up for the worst but there was still an excellent day’s football and netball matches played.

“A huge thank you to all children, parents and coaches from all the schools and local business for their support.”
