VICTORIA Holden was given another reason for being able to look back on her Lady Captain’s Day at Lightcliffe Golf Club with special pleasure - success for her daughter.

While Heather Cawdry’s nett 68 was the winning score, Hannah Holden took the Thompson Cup for the best gross score, a 76.

Hannah was maintaining her good form having recently shot a 74, the best gross round in the afternoon, at the Yorkshire Girls Championship at Cleckheaton Golf Club. She was also part of the winning Yorkshire Girls team against Lancashire at Doncaster Golf Club.

Forty five players, including five juniors, took part in her mother’s event. Sixty six attended 66 the dinner and presentation in the evening.

RESULTS: 1st Nett and the Sarah Wickens Salver: Heather Cawdry, 88-20-28; 2, Jackie Nobbs 92-23-69; 3,Gill Crampton 96-26-70.

Best Gross and Thompson Cup: Hannah Holden 76.

Nine hole competition: 1, Avril Humberstone, 17 points; 2, Wendy Cotterill, 15 points.

Nearest the pin: Christine Barnett and Alex Murphy.

Longest drive: Hannah Holden.

Straightest drive: Ashley Durman.
