Home double-header for Rangers

BOTH Brighouse Rangers ARLFC first and second teams are at Russell Way this weekend, kick off 2pm.

The players and coaching staff are getting frustrated because of the weather creating havoc.

Large numbers have been turning up for training and this weekend Brendan Hill’s charges welcome Wortley Dragons from Leeds.

With both teams meeting regularily over the last few seasons, it is usually a bit of a grudge match.

Rangers are in confident mood and with a full squad to choose from go into the game expecting to win to keep up their momentum for promotion from Division Two of the Pennine League.

Rangers second team host Emley Moor instead of travelling away to league leaders Farnley.

Coach Dave Barnes will have for the first time this season his strongest squad since he came to Brighouse.

“Everything is positive about the squad. Last week we had booked a coach for the Cowling Harlequins game, which was cancelled so I used it to our advantage and took the lads to Skipton for what turned out to be a great night out and give them a great team bonding experience,” he said.

Emley Moor have started to turn things round, so Barnes will send out his strongest team to try to get among the leaders.

“It’s so different this season compared to last year. We are not jturning up just to have a game, the attitude is now we are genuine title contenders,” he said.
