BRODS, hoping to keep their winning streak, received the ball and attacked well with a quick try resulting from Harry Dunne.

Malton, themselves, were varied in size and ability but responded with a try and conversion taking the score to 7-5.

Brods kept the ball alive, shipping it out and making good yards again into Malton’s half, which allowed Dunne his second try of the match.

Brods were strong in the forwards and worked well in the scrums, but Malton kept up their pressure and scored again.

It seemed try for try in the first half. Some strong tackling by Scott Speak, who put his body on the line as he tackled a big Malton forward, again allowing Brods to capitalise as they broke Malton’s defence and allowed Dunne his hat trick as the first half closed at 15-12 to Brods.

Substitutes changed and the second half began with some missed opportunities and dropped ball by both teams.

Malton scored the first try of the half which made the Brods more determined and there were some good periods of attacking play with forwards Oliver Anderson and Cole Wilson working hard.

This resulted in a first try for Peter Ashton, converted by Tom Wilson.

Malton again responded with a further try, taking the lead.

Brods fought hard in the last minutes, with Luke Chadwick and Joe Sealey both attempting to pressure the Malton try line, but it was a dropped ball and a quick response by Toby Robins to touch down that took the spoils back to Woodhead.

Man of the match was Luke Chadwick and big hitter Oliver Anderson.
