Four-goal hero Alex was not held back by vandals

VANDALS at Rastrick C & AC’s Carr Green home failed to halt the game in which Triangle secured three points, with Alex Brown hitting four goals.

He grabbed a first half hat-trick which left Rastrick with a lot to do.

An early second half Damian Cook goal allayed any fears of a Rastrick comeback – and Alex Brown’s fourth ended the tie, with 65th minute penalty from Arron Burnside being saved by ‘Angle keeper Richard Whiteley.

In Division One Old Pond battled for three points against an FC Champs side with two wins against the Hove Edge side already this season.

In the first half Champs dominated the possession but Pond had chances on the counter.

Chris Payne was twice denied by Champs keeper Tom Hiley and at the other end the home side’s defence put in a rock solid performance.

The match remained tight until the away side broke the deadlock after the hour mark. A deflected ball looped over the top deceived the Pond defence and Joe Swallow fired home the first goal.

Paul Taylor showed no signs of an earlier knock in smashing home a leveller.

It was not long before the lead was taken for the first time by the Brighouse outfit as Taylor who fired home at the second attempt. The match was wrapped up as Pond exploited Champs’ need to press forward.

Turton hit the ball upfield and Payne got the goal his work rate deserved to make it 3-1.

Sun Inn were not expected to take points from their away trip to nailed on champions elect Elland Sports and so proved the case at Elland Cricket Club.

Adrian Kelly netted a brace as Sun grabbed three against the unbeaten league leaders but shutting out the potent title aspirants at the other end proved too big a task as Elland moved their goals for column to 123 in just 15 games with a 10-3 victory.
