Forwards have last word to clinch game

FROM the kick off Brods were immediately on the attack with Joshua Stringer making good yards.

From the resulting ruck centre Dakota Whylie ran from inside his own half to touch down under the posts, converted by Tighe Maxwell-Whiteley.

After a further 10 minutes wing Harry Smith scored in the corner to make it 12-0.

A scrum steal, involving flanker Alex Rackstraw, freed Smith again to score in the corner.

After a period of sustained pressure the visitors produced some good handling for their centre to score making it 17 - 5 at half-time.

The South Yorkshire side looked stronger with the slope in their favour.

A good recycle of the ball and good hands from Nick Wood and Whylie gave sub winger Ethan Smith a score out wide.

The game became a contest with two quick tries to the visitors after some good build up play, and the home side were hanging on. But Brods managed to settle down to a rhythm and keep the ball for a sustained period.

Strong forward play from Jack Crowther, Chris Galvin, Ed Masters and Jack Headlong eventually told on the tiring defence resulting in Headlong powering over with seconds on the clock.
