Town notched another fine win against an enthusiastic Wakefield district outfit who had just parted company with their manager.
Despite the visitors propping up everyone with only one win in 14 before the day, they made Town work hard but got the all three points in the end
Both sides tested each other and it wasn’t until the 10th minute that Town had their first major chance when Tom Matthews hit the post and Joe Thornton latched on to the rebound but ‘keeper Ben Saynor made a diving save.
Three minutes later Ernest Boafo was brought down in the box but sent his the penalty high over the crossbar.
Town lost Ben Small after 18 minutes when he was injured in a tackle with an accidental stray boot to the head. After a lengthy period of treatment he was led from the field, Joe Mitchell replacing him.
In the 33rd minute, Matthew Johnson sent a curling left footed ball toward the Town goal whi9ch by-passed ‘keeper Jacob Giles but went over the crossbar.
Town finally boke the deadlock just after the break with a sensational goal from Danny Naidole.
Matthews looked to have tied himself up on the right byline but somehow he pulled out a majestic cross and Naidole sent the ball goalbound with an overhead kick.
Darren Beeforth tried to aid the Nostell keeper but the ball nestled with him in the back of the net.
The tireless Thornton had an attempt kicked off the line by Darren Rushton before Nostell missed a golden opportunity to equalise when Kevin Morris sliced the ball wide of the goal from two yards out.
Two minutes later Boafo raced clear, but went too wide after rounding the ‘keeper and fired into the side netting.
Ben Thornton had to kick a Nostell attempt off the line as they enjoyed their best five minutes of the game . The ball went straight down the opposite end of the pitch for a corner but keeper Saynor cleared any danger.
Boafo was replaced by Antony Brown and soon after Matthews went one-on-one with Saynor but the busy custodian saved his attempt.
A minute later a superb cross from Luke Gibson on the right was headed in by James Hurtley but the goal was disallowed for offside.
Town brought on fresh legs with 10 minutes to go as Joe Thornton was replaced by Ryan Hall, who proceeded to enjoy some possession.
With four minutes to go, Town missed an open goal as Saynor slipped in the greasy conditions but Hall’s attempt went into the side netting.
In final minute Town were awarded their second penalty when Brown was brought down in the box and Matthews stepped up to make it 2-0.
