BRIGHOUSE Ladies were dumped out of the Women’s FA Cup when they were swept away by a rampant Bradford Park Avenue side.
The start couldn’t have been any worse for Brighouse, falling 2-0 behind in the first eight minutes to two fantastic strikes.
Brighouse appeared shell shocked by this and struggled to get into the game and keeper Amy Monday pulled off a couple of saves to bring about some stability.
This seemed to have paid off as they slowly began to create chances, Vanessa Holroyd twice going close, but finally the pressure paid off and Leanne Smith found Lauren Doyle on the left and her perfect low cross was tapped in by Emily Holroyd.
But just before half time Brighouse couldn’t clear and the Avenue striker fired home to restore their two goal lead at the break.
The second half continued in similar vein with Brighouse pushing forward, but Avenue always looking dangerous.
As the half wore on Brighouse began to push forward to try and get back into the game leaving gaps at the back, and Avenue took advantage of this to score two more goals to give them a deserved 5-1 victory.
On Sunday Brighouse face a tough test away in the league at Harrogate Railway who have also won their first three games.
