Brighouse Town were held to a draw by visiting Humberside team Barton Town OB on Tuesday evening.

That followed on from last Saturday’s game whenTown surrendered a two goal lead as Staveley grabbed a share of the points with two goals in the last six minutes. The comeback looked even more unlikely as the visitors were reduced to 10 men for the last 30 minutes when centre-back Pat Lindley was sent off for two bookable offences.

Ryan Hall broke the deadlock for Town in the second half with Matty Waller adding the second on his first team debut.

Despite dominating for periods, Town were unable to capitalise on their opportunities created.

On a greasy surface against Barton, the locals, backed by another good crowd, got out of the starting blocks well.

Twelve minutes in and Ernest Boafo was put in on goal by Tom Matthews but the ball skimmed away from him.

In the 16 minute, from their first real attempt on goal, Barton beat ‘keeper Tom Taylor to his near post from the edge of the box and it was 1-0 against the run of play.

Ryan Hall was unlucky in the 32nd minute as he dribbled the ball up the middle of the pitch untouched, leaving defenders in his wake, but ‘keeper Ben White came out to meet him and smother the ball.

In the 39th minute, Adam Wilson went close to scoring, and even started to celebrate, but the ball just went wide.

Town were putting all the hard work in but were struggling to reap any reward.

Then, with a minute to half time Matthews was brought down outside the box.

The free kick was taken by dead ball specialist Danny Naidole and he cleared the wall to their left, sending it straight into the back of the net to level the scores at 1-1.

Straight after the break Town were awarded a free kick for a foul on Matthews.

Naidole stepped up but his left-footed kick went over the crossbar.

It was turning out to be a frustrating second half for Town as they continued to put pressure on Barton and test ‘keeper White with both newcomer from the Development side, Matt Waller and Matthews going close to scoring.

Despite a full bench of substitutes, Quinn opted to make no changes in the 90 minutes.

In the final minutes of the game, Waller made another attempt on goal but keeper White was straight on it.
