Brighouse Town Ladies welcomed a Handsworth side searching for their first points of the season, Town on the other hand have made a decent start but were under no illusion that today’s visitors would be no pushovers.
Town took the lead as early as the sixth minute from the spot after Chloe Roberts was pulled back in the box; Sonya Sweeney made no mistake sending the keeper the wrong way.
It was soon 2-0 when in the ninth minute Olivia Dangerfield fired in to the top corner from the edge of the box. In the next attack it was 3-0 when a Sweeney effort was spilled by the keeper leaving Roberts the easy task of tapping in to the open net. A minute later it was 4-0, this time Rachael White making her first start for Town robbed the defender in possession and coolly chipped the on rushing keeper.
Handsworth slowly settled and got over their early disappointment and managed a couple of attacks of their own without really testing keeper Molly Kennedy or her defence of Aleathia Smith, Lyndsey Naden and Debbie Tomlinson who were superb throughout. Just after the half hour mark Roberts rounded off the move of the game with a great finish after some fantastic combination play on the edge of the box and a perfectly weighted pass by Yasmin Ayub to make it 5-0, Roberts then completed her hat trick with a well taken goal to put her team 6-0 up at the break.
Town despite a lacklustre second half performance did managed to create a few chances but the opposing keeper was alert to everything pulling off a couple of good saves.
Handsworth kept plugging away and got their reward late on with well taken header in to the top corner after a cross from the right.
