BRIGHOUSE Rangers have swooped to sign two heavyweights in the game to lead their coaching team.
The amateur rugby league club's chairman Dean Wilson has revealed that after weeks of talks Bradley-based Johnny Bruce, 36, the former Huddersfield Giants, Sheffield Eagles, Batley Bulldogs and Doncaster prop forward is to be their new coach.
He will be assisted by another former front-rower, Brendan Hill, a fans' favourite in his heyday at Halifax, Bradford Northern and Keighley Cougars.
A delighted Wilson said they had met three times with Bruce and Hill. "Our patience has been rewarded. They are two honest lads who will work for this club on and off the field and take us to a higher level. We really feel they are best placed to do that.
"Johnny has worked with Brendan at Clayton and they get on well. Brendan is on Barry Eaton's coaching staff at the Cougars and will join us full-time when they enter their close season at the beginning of September."
