The families of the three men have all nominated charities for monies raised to be split between, with the Nunns and Davidson family selecting the British Heart Foundation and Mr Priestley's family wanting a third of the donations to go to the worthy Calderdale Special Care Baby Unit.
Money will be raised on the day by all players donating a subs fee to the charity, whilst the league has been busy rallying around for raffle prizes - as tickets will be sold with many prizes on offer - though further donations will be gladly accepted right up to kick off! Supporters are asked to get down in their numbers and of course have a few quid spare to buy tickets.
The event has already been fantastically supported – Thornhill Briggs WMC has donated £50, whilst referee Walter Hemingway and his assistants have put their match fee into the charity pot. Former friends and family of the three have also come forward to support the event. Gary Priestley's son Steven will make a guest appearance in the match, as will Richard Payne and Anthony Ives who both played with Gary. Former Thornhill Briggs man Liam Smithies will represent the Brighouse side and he has also donated a number of raffle prizes.
Thanks must also go to Brighouse Sports Club for agreeing to host the event - and they will be serving snacks on the morning - with a cut going to the charities.
Players are asked to meet at the Russell Way venue for 10:00 and the league hope that a bumper festive crowd will gather to swell the charity coffers.
