LIGHTCLIFFE Cricket Club has a new chairman of cricket but has not as yet found a successor for club chairman, John Brooke.
Long serving player, committee member and local resident James Horne is the new chairman of cricket to take over from equally long serving player and committeeman Bruce Lunn.
Horne, also a notable fly-half in his playing days with the Old Brodleians rugby club, takes over to give Lunn a break and time to look at fresh challenges within the club that now owns its own ground at Wakefield Road.
"Bruce has done a fine job for us in that role and I am just pleased he has confirmed he is staying on the committee," said Brooke.
Bruce Lunn confirmed to Echo Sport that he was staying on as both a player and committee member and said there were many other responsibilities around this club to now work on, especially with them owning their own ground.
Brooke continued:" I am all for continuity at local clubs and for building on what is there, not bringing in whole new teams.
"It's all about local connections and in Lightcliffe's situation, those who mainly live in HX3.
"That has been our strength which has led to successes over the years along with selective new faces who have wanted to come and play for this club."
Brooke confirmed that Yorkshire CCC and former Derbyshire batsman Chris Taylor has already started working for the club, although his post of Director of Cricket Development will be officially ratified at the club's February annual meeting.
Rumours that following his release from Yorkshire, Taylor could be playing some midweek Minor Counties cricket for Staffordshire, have yet to be confirmed.
"This is a tremendous appointment for the club and sends out a real positive message about the Lightcliffe club and its future," said Bruce Lunn.
He also confirmed two more signings in Josh Wheatley, an off-spinner from Windhill and Javed Iqbal returning to Wakefield Road after spending last season with Spen Victoria.
They join Taylor, Nick Ward, a batsman who joins from Hartshead Moor and will initially start out in the second team, and Reece Jowett, a middle order batsman from Cleckheaton.
He is currently studying to be a teacher and will only be available from mid-June apart from any holiday period.
Lunn said they were still weighing up their options on whether to bring Simon Black, last season's overseas fat bowler back from the Hawthorn Monash University team who play in the Melbourne Premier League.
"If we don't then we will need a fast bowler to replace him," he said.
The club's nets start on Monday, February 1 at Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School Sports Centre.
This where Chris Taylor will really come into his own, although he has already been supervising some nets with new skipper Jonathan 'Jocky' Wilson prior to the Christmas break at Headingley Carnegie.
Chairman Brooke says he will inform the committee at the annual meeting he is prepared to soldier on until they do find a successor but he would prefer it sooner than later if a suitable candidate does come forward.
