AVOCET Brighouse SFL leaders Eastfield came through one of their toughest tests yet at Lane Head last Sunday, as they defeated a recently on song Martins Nest in a tight encounter.
The match was close throughout with the score locked at three apiece at the break, but the league leaders enjoyed a purple patch in front of goal in the second period that ultimately won them maximum points.
Goals from Joe Shaw, Ryan Collins, Danny Hodgkinson, Michael Drennan and a Wayne Collins spot kick proved enough to keep 'Field at the pinnacle of the league standings, but Nest caused plenty of problems at the other end.
Dan Reddy – noted primarily as a midfielder – did a sterling job up front in netting twice for the home side, Jason Armstrong struck a free kick home and Jake Driver scored a magnificent solo effort to make sure Eastfield had to work hard for three points.
Nest had chances to take something from the match but the visitor's last line of defence in keeper Chris Lawton was inspired and looks to be a great addition to the squad following a recent transfer from Top Club.
