CELEBRATIONS at the Old Brodleians continue for the next three weeks and then, says skipper Ollie Akroyd, the planning and preparation for life in North One East begins in earnest.
"We have a dinner and presentation evening on Friday for all the teams, including seconds, development and the Beavers and then on Friday, May 15, a dinner dance is planned," he said.
"This has been another great season and one enjoyed by players and spectators alike. Next season will be a bigger challenge but not beyond our capabilities.
"The teams in there now are better but not that much better and it is a pity Old Crossleyans look to be leaving it as they play at home on Saturday to Rossendale in a play-off game and I would fancy them going into National Three with their champions of the league Penrith.
"That gives us a great incentive but we are not looking next month at saying the 2009-10 will be a third successive promotion, it will be more a learning curve and we will be looking for some stability and consistency.
"We will have to deal with the travelling and also deal with the possibility of losing a few more games. Something right now the players would find hard after the successes of the past two seasons.
"There are quite a few areas we need to tighten up on as we move to that level as we will be up against a few sides who do have some rugby budgets although this is disappearing down away from the top two or three National divisions.
"We are going to have to look at one or two players, although to be fair we are always looking at some.
"The Colts have provided us with 10 players this season and with a new structure for next term for the U-18 and 19 players as Neil Davidson, Clive Harris and Ashley Munroe take on the coaching roles, the timing is perfect to run in tandem with this promotion.
"You only have to see the quality that is being produced when Leeds Carnegie on our doorstep want to advance the players in their Academy.
"It also attracts players to join us when they see that the county's Guinness Premiership club wants to look at signing players of the quality of Ben Morrell and taking players into their academy."

MOVING on up! Old Brodleians celebrated winning the Yorkshire League One championship title last Saturday in glorious sunshine in front of around 500 spectators to move up to their highest ever league in the club's history.
Next season they will be playing in the North One East League and on this performance have a squad that looks capable of competing for more honours.
It was smiles all round, as not only is this their second successive promotion in two years but they also nilled their opposition and chairman Richard Turner's disco, booked in advance, didn't go to waste!
It was a must win for Brods as Bridlington in second place could have stolen the title if they had beaten second to bottom Glossop by more than 69 points. They had a good try as they put 66 unanswered points past them.
It was obvious from the outset that successful Brods coach Nick O'Connor's men were going into battle and to win.
A thrilled O'Connor said after the game: "A second year in a row going up is an absolutely fantastic performance. I have been on edge all week but the lads have been inspirational.
"As the scoreline suggests it was an accomplished performance. When the time came they stood up to the challenge. They did really well and I'm chuffed to bits.
"On the day if we play there isn't a team to touch us and its shown with being top of the league. York aren't a bad side, they have some good players, but they just couldn't stop us today."
The Brods played downhill against a strong wind in the first half.
It was a scrappy start and in the 13th minute Ben Hoyle was penalised after a skirmish in the tackle with the opposition's fly-half.
Brods broke the deadlock in the 18th minute when they had a scrum five metres out. Luke Scrimshaw produced a clever pass to Danny Melia who offloaded to the pacy James Marshall to score down the blindside in the corner.
Oliver Akroyd converted.
The Brods continued to boss the first half and Ben Hoyle was pulled up short of the line.
To add to York's troubles, second-rower James Rossington was assisted off the pitch with an ankle injury.
The Brods were reduced several minutes later to 14 men when Andy Clay was sent to the sin bin. However, being a man down didn't stop the Brods crossing the line when Melia threw a short offload to Callum Thompson to go in for the try. Akroyd tagged on the goal.
The home side had injury troubles themselves when with eight minutes to half time, Matt Willis, who was having an exceptional game in the second row, had to leave the field with a serious shoulder injury and was replaced by Oliver Hawkins.
York's lack of discipline cost them in the 35th minute when they gave away a penalty for offside 25 metres out in front of the posts. Brods opted for the three points and Ackroyd was successful to extend the lead 17-0 at half time.
Ten minutes into the second half the Brods received the ball from a kick and shipped it from left to right with Clay throwing the final pass to send Marshall in for an easy try.
Akroyd again converted to extend the score and stopped York's hopes of getting back into the game.
Ben Morrill left the field with a bleeding nose and a broken hand to be replaced by David Skinner in the 52nd minute.
The home side ran riot and Tom Hanson looked set to score but failed to ground the ball over the try line.
However a minute later Brods after constant pressure were rewarded when Callum Thompson bagged himself a brace with Akroyd converting in front of the uprights to make it 31-0.
A few minutes later the York side was reduced to 14 men when full-back Alexander Nixon received a yellow card for tripping his opposite number, Marshall, who looked set to out pace him. The penalty was awarded and the Brods forwards took the ball deep in York's territory and Jamie Mclaughlin took a short pass to go through the defenders to score. Akroyd maintained a 100 per cent kicking record and the win and promotion was in the bag!
