Organisers of the The Tree of Light campaign, the Rotary club in Brighouse, presented the Calderdale Young Carers with a cheque for £2,500.
Brighouse Rotary President Marian Eastwood presented the proceeds from the project to Nicola Regan and Claire Wright representing Calderdale Young Carers.
The tree outside Sainsbury’s supermarket gives people the chance to remember loved ones or causes close to their heart while making a donation to charity.
This year’s total was boosted by bucket collections at Tesco and Sainsbury’s in Brighouse.
Also at the meeting a talk was given by Rotarian Mike Bamford from the Bingley Airedale club about his experiences trekking in the Himalayas and subsequent projects to install IT systems in the secondary schools of the Pokhara valley in Nepal.
