Yarn explosion to welcome the tour

A group of knitting and wool fanatics are aiming to decorate Brighouse to welcome the cyclists and visitors and are asking for help from the community.

The group is looking for donations of spare wool or anyone who can knit, crochet or sew to create a yarn trail.

Knitters can help by cretaing designs such as yellow jersey bunting, flowers, pom poms, leaves, squares, strips which can then be sewn together to create features.

Funds will also be raised for the Tour de Yorkshire’s chosen charity the Alzheimer’s Society.

As the Tour de Yorkshire takes place on the same weekend as the Brighouse Spring Market the group hope to create a Yarn Trail to entertain visitors, young and old alike.

To find out more about how you can get involved drop into Wesley House at Central Methodist Church on Tuesday’s at 7pm. Information can also be found at Baa Baa Brighouse in Rastrick, Pot Spot in Brighouse and Samuel Taylors at Kershaw’s Garden Centre, Halifax Road. Donations can be dropped off at any of the above locations.
