Friends and colleagues Gemma Peers and Jane Cole are turning the clock back to give a vintage feel to a fundraising evening for Overgate Hospice.
The two women decided to hold a special vintage tea party next month to support the hospice where Jane’s father, Ian Cole, died in September 2012.
Jane said: “My father had been diagnosed with lung cancer and we thought he was going into Overgate for some respite care.
“We thought he had been feeling so ill because of his chemotherapy but in fact it was because the cancer had spread to his bones.
“He spent his last week in the hospice and he was looked after with such care and dedication.
“The hospice made sure that he was peaceful and not in pain or distress. It’s an incredible place and deserves everyone’s support.”
Jane has held fundraising events in the past and taken part in a 5km run for Overgate.
The vintage tea party on Thursday, April 3 at Gemma Peers Hair Salon in Wakefield Road, Lightcliffe will feature designer clothing, vintage repro jewellery, cakes and nibbles, and live music from singers Bexi Owen and April Linsey.
Gemma said: “It’s going to be a relaxed, fun evening with lots of ‘guilty pleasures’.
“The music will be songs from the 1940s and ‘50s and there will the chance to browse round the stalls, book appointments and enjoy some good conversation.
“For all new clients who book an appointment on the night we will give 15 per cent off the bill to Overgate.”
Guests are invited to bring a bottle and a wine glass to enjoy a tipple. Admission is £3 and the evening starts at 6.30pm. For more information contact 01422 200203.
