A Brighouse woman who worked for the school dinner service across the West Riding has died.

Louie Carey, 89, attended St Joseph’s Catholic School and worked in Heywoods ladies outfitters in Brighouse.

She worked for General Electric Company during the war and married Sydney Carey in 1946 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church.

The couple lived in Rastrick for many years and had two children: Anita and a son Richard, who sadly died in 1969 aged 16.

She was also grandmother of Zanna and Bella and sister to Dorothy.

Louie worked for the school dinner service for the West Riding for many years, experience which held her in good stead for years to come.

From 1974 she and Sydney resided in the Cotswolds, initially in Bredon and then moving to their house in Westmancote where they lived very happily for the rest of their lives.

Her funeral service will be held today (Thursday) at Gloucester Crematorim at noon. Flowers may be sent to E Hill and Son, funeral directors, Pershore, WR10 1HZ.
