Tributes have been paid to a long-serving member of the Brighouse Charity Gala committee following his death last week.
Bob Parker, who was the gala’s procession chairman for many years, died on September 3, aged 62.
Mr Parker, of Rastrick, played a major role in organising the parade at the gala and has been instrumental in a number of developments over the years.
Peter Edwards, the gala’s ground chairman, praised Mr Parker for his contribution and said he will be missed.
“Bob has been with the gala for many years, mainly on the procession side of things,” Mr Edwards said.
“In that time, he was instrumental in the move from Finkil Street to Garden Road.
“He will be missed because it’s an area where he has built up a lot of expertise.
“The procession chairman is such a vital role in the gala.
“People get on with the job. It’s only when they have retired, or in this case died, that you appreciate how much support that they have given and what their contribution has been over the years.”
Mr Parker leaves his wife Pat, daughters Cassandra and Zoe, and grandchildren Georgia, Aaron and Eva.
His funeral will take place at Huddersfield Crematorium on Monday, September 15, at 11.15am.
