A stalwart of Hove Edge who ran a community group for over 65s for more than 30 years has died.
Mary Berry was a well known face in the Brighouse area and her work with the Hove Edge 65 Club, which met at Hove Edge Bowling Club.
She held the role as president for more than three decades before the club disbanded in 2009 due to the declining membership and lack of younger volunteers joining.
The Hove Edge 65 Club was one of the longest serving clubs of its type in Calderdale, with members coming together for talks and fundraising events.
She peacefully passed away at Hopton Care Cottages on December 31, 2014, aged 88.
She was married to her late husband and they had two children -Maureen and David. She was a grandma, a great grandma and friend to many in Hove Edge.
The funeral service will take place at Park Wood Crematorium in Elland on Wednesday, January 21, at noon. Family flowers only are requested but donations can be made to the Forget-Me-Not Children’s Hospice.
