A FOUR car smash caused major travel disruption on the ring road around Brighouse last week.

The accident happened at 9am last Thursday in Bradford Road outside the Golden Sea Chinese Restaurant.

A Volkswagen Passat, an Audi Q5, a Vauxhall Corsa and a Volkswagen van were involved in the collision.

Paramedics, fire crews and police were called to the scene. Two people were hurt in the collision.

An 18-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with minor injuries.

Drivers faced long queues of traffic at the busy junction as cars were diverted around the accident.

Wakefield Road was closed for an hour with diversions in place along Phoenix Road as the cars were cleared and accident investigation work was carried out.

The closure caused disruption to some bus services and heavy goods vehicles as they were pulled to one side due to them unable to access the side street.

n The M62 came to a standstill on Tuesday at 11.10am after a pile up involving four cars and a lorry between Junction 26 and 27. Queues backed up as far as Junction 24 Huddersfield and saw congestion around Brighouse.
