More than 50 brass band will converge on St George’s Hall, Bradford, this weekend to compete in five sections for the honour of being crowned Yorkshire Champion Brass Band.
The current Yorkshire Champion Band is Carlton Main Frickley Colliery who will be defending its title against 12 of the country’s best brass bands including Brighouse and Rastrick, conducted by Prof David King, Black Dyke and Grimethorpe Colliery on Sunday.
Four bands from the Championship Section will go on to represent Yorkshire in the National Championships in London in October.
Clifton and Lightcliffe Band, conducted by John Clay, will be in action against other First Section bands on Saturday and Clifton and Lightcliffe B Band will compete on Sunday in the Fourth Section. Elland Silver Band will be in action on Sunday in the Second Section.
