THE return of one of the most popular events Brighouse has seen is gearing up for a night of high speed racing and entertainment.
After a two year absence, the VS Cycles Brighouse Circuit Race is making its comeback on Tuesday.
The course will be the same as the events held between 2007 and 2009 with the first race starting at 7pm.
Michael Lever from the race organising team said: “We are extremely proud to be able to bring the first round of the 2012 Men’s Elite Circuit Race Series to Brighouse with the support of our main sponsors Websters Insurance Brokers. We have been off the calendar for two years but knowing how tough the circuit is and how much the riders and teams have enjoyed it in the past we just had to get it back on.
“We have great support and the circuit is ideal for spectators We can’t wait to see all the riders, teams and a huge crowd of supporters back in Brighouse.”
The start/finish line will be at The George on Commercial Street as they race along Commercial Street, on to King Street before sweeping into Lawson Road, down Bethel Street and Thornton Square.
All roads around the circuit will be closed to traffic and roadside parking will be prohibited between 6pm and 10pm. This means access will not be possible to properties located on or adjacent to the circuit.
A total of three races will take place with the youth race at 7pm before the regional cyclists at 7.35pm and the elite race at 8.20pm.
Nine of the UK’s top teams will be racing including Rapha Condor Sharp and Endura Racing which will see Russell and Dean Downing both experts around the Brighouse circuit come up against each other.
