Members of the Brighouse group of the University of the Third Age enjoyed their monthly walk in the Ripponden area last week.

Leaders Alistair and Sue Sedman were joined by 24 men and ladies for the five-and-a-half mile route, which began at the Fleece Inn at Barkisland and followed the Ryburn valley, returning via the tops near Scammonden Dam before arriving back at the Fleece for some much-needed refreshment.

The group is always looking for new members.

If you are retired and are interested in meeting new people and taking part in stimulating activities, a registration day for the 2015-16 programme will be held on Monday September 7 from 10am-12pm at the Waring Green Community Centre in Brighouse. The schedule includes walks, outings to places of interest such as museums and markets, and classes in subjects including flower arranging and history.
