ROWLANDS pharmacy was on the march to help promote a healthy lifestyle and to raise funds for charity.

Staff from the Church Lane branch took on the Giants Strides walk for the Laura Crane Cancer Trust.

Along with former Huddersfield Giants and Bradford Bulls rugby star Robbie Hunter-Paul, walkers started on the journey from the Galpharm Stadium, Huddersfield, to Odsal Stadium in Bradford.

The route took them down Leeds Road, along the canal to Brighouse, up through Clifton, Scholes and Wyke and then on to Huddersfield Road to Odsal.

Karen Bartle, for the Rowlands Pharmacy who helped organise the team, said it was an ideal opportunity to raise money for a charity close to her.

“I went to school with Laura and know people at the Trust so I like to do my bit to support them. I thought it would be a great idea to help raise money for the charity,” she said.

Fund-raiser Helen Mervill said they were grateful to staff at Rowlands taking part. “The Laura Crane Cancer Trust is 100 per cent run on donation from the general public so we rely on the generosity of individuals, community groups and companies because without that we couldn’t continue supporting our patients.”
