TWO Brighouse stylists have reached the final for the HJ’s 2012 British Hairdressing Awards.

Tamsin Pape and Gary Taylor both of Edwards and Co in Bradford Road have been shortlisted in the awards, the equivalent of the Oscars of the hairdressing world.

To enter the competition, hairdressers had to submit four images, and organise a photoshoot in London. They will have to submit another four images, which will be judged along with the first four by industry experts, members of the British Hairdressing Awards Hall of Fame, some of the UK’s leading hairdressers and hair journalists. Gary has been nominated for North Western Hairdresser of the Year. He said he was ecstatic. “To make it through to the final for a third time with the knowledge of being nominated to the final with every collection I have ever done is a a wonderful feeling, but for Tamsin to be nominated for best British Newcomer is a great sense of achievement for myself, Tamsin and the whole team at Edward and Co that supported us this year.

“I’m hoping our chances are strong. But whichever way it goes we have to look at it that we have a one in six chance to winning now as there are only six finalist in each category. But to get this far is a massive bonus to all of us at Edward and Co because this is the biggest accolade in our industry.”

Tamsin added: “I was delighted to received my letter telling me I’d made it to the finals. This year has been an incredible one for the salon. To be recognised by your peers as one of the country’s leading hairdressers and being involved in the British Hairdressing Awards is both a wonderful feeling and a great achievement.”

The winner will be announced on Monday, November 26.
