REHEARSALS are well underway for Brighouse Theatre Productions’ autumn show ‘Guys and Dolls’.

Tickets are now on sale for the popular musical which will be at Brighouse Civic Hall from Wednesday, October 12 to Saturday, October 15. Directors Ian Stead and David Root will bring the sparkling show to the stage.

Society press officer Margaret Hallatt said: “There are plenty of toe-tapping numbers, dancing girls and humour in this colourful show. I know that ‘Guys and Dolls’ is the favourite show of several cast members and they are rehearsing hard.”

With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, ‘Guys and Dolls’ takes place on Broadway and tells the story of a group of gamblers. One of them, Nathan Detroit, bets his friend, Sky Masterson, that he won’t be able to make the next girl he sees fall in love with him. Sky has his work cut out when that girl turns out be the beautiful and pious Sarah Brown from the Save-a-Soul Mission.

Sky Masterson is played by Chris Gates with Ellen Ball as Sarah Brown and Trevor Burrows as Nathan Detroit. Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons and Frank Sinatra took the same roles in the memorable 1955 film version.

The show contains some memorable songs including ‘Luck Be a Lady’ and ‘Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat’.

Advance tickets at £12 for adults and £10 concessions are available by phone on 01484 402435. Performances start at 7.15pm with a matinee on Saturday, October 15 at 2.15pm.
