Schools forced to close

Schools have been forced to close in Brighouse after up to 5cm of snow fell overnight.

The Met Office said the snow would continue throughout the day with an amber weather warning for parts of the county.

Lane closures have been rpeorted on the M62 especially around Brighouse due to the snow.

The following schools are closed, Lightcliffe CE Primary, St Andrew’s Infant and Junior School, Brighouse, St Chad’s CE Primary, Hove Edge, Hipperholme Grammar (except for exam students) Rastrick High (except for exam students) St Joseph’s RC Primary, Brighouse, Castlefields Infant School, Rastrick, Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High (except for exam students), Withinfields School, Southowram and Brighouse High School (except for exam students).

Carr Green Primary School, Rastrick, Longroyde Junior School, Rastrick, Rastrick Independent School, St John’s CE Primary Academy, Clifton, Cliffe Hill Community Primary, Lightcliffe, and Woodhouse Primary, Brighouse, are still open.

First are reporting all routes are sticking to the main roads only.

The following services are suspended 28a, 36, 34, 254/255/X25, 528, 531, 534, 537, 546, 553, 554, 557, 559, 560, 572, 573 and 574.
