Residents at Sandholme Fold Care Home went wild for a special show from Tickled Pink Productions.
The group performed their Wild, Wild West spring show at the home in Sandholme Crescent, Hipperholme.
The cast sang many favourite theatre numbers including those from Calamity Jane, Annie Get Your Gun, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Oklahoma.
Tickled Pink Productions was established in 2002 as a one off care homes tour. However it was so popular they have been requested to produce shows ever since and now perform all over the country to over 1000 care homes.
Residents were also transported to America with the home’s Las Vegas Day.
Along with roulette and card tables family and friends were entertained by a performance from Elvis impersonator Darren Rivers.
Susan Burke, activties coordinator at Sandholme, said: “All the residents helped with the baking of Las Vegas style buns and everybody watched a DVD tour of the city to expereince what it was like.”
As part of National Care Home Open Day on Friday, Sandholme Fold will be opening its door and inviting the community for an day of entertainment.
The event at will include a buffet lunch and entertainment with singers and performers. “We have invited social services, councillors, Age Concern, the community, local business people from all the local shops, and family and friends to come along,” added Susan.
“Community Transport has also offered their services to bring people from either sheltered housing or local churches.
“Lightcliffe Junior School will also be coming in the morning.
“The day is open for everybody to come along and see what Anchor Homes have to offer.”
Thousands of care home will be uniting and putting on a show as part of the national event with a rich variety of events and activities designed to bring people together and build connections.
