NEW Beevers and Cubs groups are meeting in Bailiff Bridge - and there are plans to start a Scout group in the new year.
Brighouse district commissioner David Radley said: “There always used to be a Scout group in Bailiff Bridge but it closed down a number of years ago. Now, because of all the new houses that have been built in the area in recent years, we perceived that there was a need for a new group and we have been planning it for six months.”
The groups meet at Ebenezer Church, Bailiff Bridge, on Mondays. Beavers (six to eight years) meet from 5.45pm to 6.45pm and Cubs (eight years to 10) meet from 6.30pm to 8pm. It is hoped that the Scout section (10 to 14 years) will follow in the new year.
“There is a lot of enthusiasm from the young people, now we urgently need to get more adults on board to support us,” said Mr Radley.
Groups using Ebenezer Church are holding a Christmas fair on December 3 from 2pm to 4pm.
