Record-breaking year for Gala cash

More than £22,500 has been distributed to local organisations and charities.

The money was raised at Brighouse Charity Gala held in Wellholme Park in June. The money raised from entry into the park was more than £8,500 and the money raised by charities on the field was also higher this year.

The monies collected on the procession route and gate money has been divided to enhance the money raised by charities by 57 per cent.

Chairman Peter Charles said it was a record breaking year. “The beautiful weather, great stalls and a variety of entertainment helped to make the gala a success.”

Forty five charities and organisations received a slice of the Gala takings cake.

They are Air Ambulance, £406.94; Anchor Trust, £585.92; Brighouse Central Methodists, £125.60; Brighouse Inner Wheel, £199.39; Brighouse Ludenshied Society, £518.80; Brighouse Ladies Circle, £376.80; Brighouse Rangers Ladies, £319.73; Brighouse Swimming Club, £89.49; Brighouse Theatre Production, £178.98.
