Players were proud to show off their poppies on their football shirts and raise money for the Royal British Legion.
Clifon Rangers Football Club under 11 A team supported the Poppies for Kits appeal.
At its league cup fixture on Remembrance Sunday against Northowram Rams, the players wore poppies on their kits and a minute’s silence was observed before kick off.
Sangeeta Enright helped get the club involved in the scheme and by joining hundreds of other junior football teams across the country. Poppies for Kits raised £18,422.02 for the British Legion Poppy Appeal.
It was another successful bonfire at Rangers’ Towngate ground, this time raising funds for the club.
Katrina Asquith, Clifton Rangers social committee member, said: “After the success of last year’s display, Optimum Fireworks returned to produce a spectacular pyromusical display.
“The clear sky was lit up to an amazing 15 minute firework display in perfect harmony to a James Bond themed musical medley.
“Even more people turned up this year and enjoyed hot food and refreshments. This event grows each year and it’s great to see so many smiling faces of all ages.
“Thank you to all club volunteers and the Clifton community for all their hard work.”
