A PACKED house of music lovers enjoyed a summer’s evening and good company at the annual “Proms in the Paddock” event at Clifton.

Around 500 people arrived at the home of Ed and Debbie Spivey in New Street for traditional prom songs and flag-waving.

The entertainment included performances from Clifton and Lightcliffe Band who played a variety of music from musicals and films. There was also a solo performance from soprano singer Rachel Crisp with the evening ending with the traditional last night of the proms.

There was a firework finale which was described as a splendid show and could be seen across the valley in Rastrick.

Mrs Spivey said: “It was one big party from start to finish.

“Everyone had a good time and by the end they were on their feet waving flags and singing.

“The prom is a well established village event and really does bring everyone together. It has a lovely community feel to it.”

The event, which is in its seventh year, raises funds for St John’s Church, Clifton.
